Workspaces and research facilities for the offshore renewables and biosciences sector.
The new Science and Engineering Research Support Facility (SERSF) provides flexible work spaces, laboratories and offices for offshore renewables and biosciences, accommodating expanded research facilities for the Marine Renewables team and the Centre for Ecology and Conservation (CEC). It also provides a base for the University’s Business School.
The 1200m² of accommodation is set over two storeys, and incorporates a large flume tank for aquatic research and -80K refrigeration for long term experiments. Its aesthetic is strongly generated by the use of high-pressure laminate external cladding and brise soleils. It achieves a BREEAM “Excellent” rating, reflecting its inherently sustainable purpose.
