A visually striking new building for the Art & Computing Faculty at Richard Huish College.
A flagship teaching facility for art and computing in a prominent location at the sixth-form campus of Richard Huish College, Taunton. This two-story structure houses an expansive open-plan art studio, MAC suite, and IT teaching spaces. The first floor boasts art studios flooded with natural light from north-facing roof lights set within striking 60°/30° pitched roof forms, emphasizing the vaulted spaces.
The visually captivating roof design is highlighted by the use of standing seam cladding that seamlessly wraps from the walls to the roof, culminating in fully glazed gable ends. Grainge took the project from concept design through planning, detailed design, and construction, ensuring its successful delivery meeting the stakeholder vision.
