Providing a modern training and recreation facility for Devon and Cornwall Police.
A new sports hall, training studio and changing facilities at Devon and Cornwall Police’s headquarters in Exeter. The multifunction hall and studio cater for a range of activities; from typical sporting uses for police fitness, to specialist taser training and health and safety classes.
The scheme makes use of a constrained site, built to a tight budget over the footprint of a dilapidated swimming pool and integrating existing plant services with new equipment for a high standard, sustainable facility. The finishes are designed with robustness and practicality in mind, crucial for the specialist uses, whilst still providing a fresh and contemporary feel throughout for a pleasant facility in which to train.
One of a number of projects we have done with Devon and Cornwall Police, Grainge Architects oversaw Middlemoor Sports Hall from conception to completion providing the full range of Architectural services and leading the design team for the delivery of what is an exemplary facility for the training of police recruits.
