Grainge Architects are delighted to see the completion in conjunction with Interserve, of another successful project within our Emergency Services portfolio. The new £3.35m ‘Fire Behaviour Training Centre’ for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service is located at Exeter International Airport and has shared training facilities for both DSFRS and the airport fire service. The new facility enables DSFRS to work closely in partnership with the airport fire fighting team to provide fire training for their own fire fighters as well as for other services and other airport fire teams.
DSFRS run their highly respected and internationally recognised training and professional instruction courses for both the public and private sectors from the site. The Fire Behaviour School has previously trained personnel from over 45 other fire and rescue services, both domestically and from overseas. The instructors at the school work closely with their clients to ensure training is appropriate to their normal working environments for each industry.
The Fire Behaviour School constantly strive to keep up to date with new technologies and advances in specialist knowledge and skills to give each client the best possible toolkit they need to work safely and effectively in hazardous conditions and ensure they lead the field in these areas.
As well as offering Fire Behaviour courses the school offers numerous other specialist courses and training such as breathing apparatus, positive pressure ventilation and custom tailored courses for the commercial sector as well as leading the way with the provision of BTEC accredited Compartment Fire Behaviour Training Instructor and Positive Pressure Ventilation Instructor courses.
The Training Academy is made up of seven schools consisting of:
