Sensitive remodelling and extension to an important listed manor house.
A large basement extension and remodelling of an existing listed manor house in rural Somerset. The proposal is for comprehensive spa facilities including a 20m pool, treatment room, jacuzzi and gym facilities. Due to tight planning constraints the building is recessed into the gardens, forming a series of sunken courtyards and terraces that lead up to an extensive green roof which its integrated into the wider landscape of the estate. Externally, ‘paired-back’ stone facades reference the classical principles of the existing house.
An existing walled courtyard and glasshouse has been re-established adjoining the listed building to renew the properties former grandeur and further enhance the setting of the Manor House.
