New housing within the Dartmoor National Park. The development provides contemporary homes while reflecting the identity of South Brent by strong references to the vernacular style (such as clipped eaves, chimneys), materials (painted render, natural stone and slate-hanging, slated roofs), scale and massing of the village.
This site was allocated for housing within the Dartmoor Development Management and Delivery Development Plan Document (DMD) (part of the Dartmoor National Park Development Plan), in which context a development brief was developed with Cavanna Homes.
Preparation of this brief included an extensive consultation exercise with the local community, involving creation of a stakeholder group, workshop events, public exhibitions and meetings with statutory consultees. This ensured that the resulting master-plan met the requirements of the local community, with emphasis on sustainability and a suitable level of affordable housing.
