A new dwelling with a steel portal frame as its ‘core’, a system more commonly associated with agricultural buildings, and a key to the intentionally ‘barn-like’ style – further developed by use of materials sympathetic to the surrounding farm buildings, including “Big 6” profiled roof sheeting and blackened timber weather boarding. Close collaboration between client and contractor enabled a highly cost-effective delivery.
