Police & Custody Station, Torquay

This project, won in a limited design competition, was to provide a new Police Station and Custody Unit on the site of the existing outdated and inadequate building, which needed to be maintained in operation throughout the construction period.  Hence complex phasing of construction was necessary.

The site is within a Conservation Area and contains a Grade II listed terrace.  The scheme incorporated this as well as opting to retain most of the attractive existing main façade of the existing Station.

Activities accommodated within the new Station include:  40-cell custody unit, CID, major incident rooms, ID parade, bail, community policing, traffic wardens, general admin etc..
