Higher House, Exeter

Higher House is a Grade II listed building within a Conservation Area.  As with many such buildings the main reception / living spaces are set at entrance level, while the garden to the rear is at lower ground floor level and hence detached from everyday living space.  

This extension, unapologetically contemporary, expands the family living area by providing a very light and airy kitchen connected to the existing traditional dining room, while retaining all of the existing structure of the listed building - an important factor in negotiations with the Conservation Officer.  At the same time it connects the home to its garden.
